Owned by Kurt Schoonraad, the Jou Ma Se Comedy Club runs Thursdays at Players Café at The River Club in Observatory.

Comedian Kurt Schoonraad has pioneered Jou Ma Se Comedy Club (JMSCC) to provide a regular reputable stand-up club for Cape Town’s laugh-craving populace and establish a support system for the industry.

Established in 2008, the club doubles as a platform for up-and-coming comedy stars as it provides an opportunity for fresh talent to brush shoulders with the more established names in the industry, as well as generating invaluable exposure for everyone who stands up to it. Every week features a headline and supporting act, and a special guest host/MC. The open mic slots are already a highly sought after placement to those who wish to gain entrance into this exclusive industry.

These are some of the comedians who have performed at the comedy club over the past few years ... Kurt Schoonraad, Nik Rabinowitz, Marc Lottering, Mel Miller, Stuart Taylor, Riaad Moosa, Loyiso Gola, Cokey Falkow, Ndumiso Lindi, Tumi Morake, Chris Forrest, Colin Moss, Rob van Vuuren, Dave Levinsohn, David Newton, Conrad Koch, Mark Palmer, Martin Evans, Martin Davis (UK), Andrew "Magic Man" Eland , Pete Johansson (Canada), Shimmy Isaacs, Brent Palmer, Melanie Jones, Tracy Klass, Siv Ngesi, Paul Snodgrass, Dugald Pieterse, Piet Potgieter, Carl Weber, Hannes Brummer, Melt Sieberhagen, Deep Fried Man, Tats Nkonzo and many many more!
